History
M&I Steel was established in 1997 when three partners joined together to offer combined services to mechanical contractors, hence the name Mechanical & Industrial. The trio started as utility businessmen: estimating jobs, project managing, and shop coordinating, all the while running the companies logistics and finances. Their determination and resilience built a strong foundation for M&I Steel. However, the early accomplishments of M&I Steel would not have been as successful had companies such as Linblad Construction, Nicholas & Associates, & Bergen Construction given them the professional reputation needed to establish themselves in the field.
At the start of the millennia, Mike Hannon became the sole owner of M&I steel and took the opportunity to move locations to Channahon, IL where the company resides today. This move enabled his shop to expand their fabrication services to provide more ornate works and finishes. Additionally, Mike added an erection division- truly making the company a full-service, comprehensive steel contractor. Since the move, M&I Steel has mastered its system of estimating, fabricating and erecting jobs on schedule and under budget without compromising quality.
